The Relocation Act

The Relocation Act provides that a parent, who has the child residing with him/her the majority of the time, must give notice to the other parent before he/she moves residence. A hearing can be scheduled if the other party objects in a timely fashion and requests a hearing.

The State has been very helpful in providing the basic rules regarding relocation in the parenting plan form. This makes sure that parents have notice of what the law requires them to do.
